Donald G. Watson, CTR2 USN, 1951-1955 Reading all of the stories about how our members became a part of the CT organization brings back old memories. I was introduced to the CT community because I had taken some radio type courses in college right after I graduated from high school in 1949. When I arrived at NTC San Diego in Feb 1951, I like all recruits, was asked to list what schooling I had . I put down some college radio classes and immediately was asked if I wanted to go to radio school to become a CT. I said sure, and after finishing basic radio school I headed to Imperial Beach for the classified portion of the training. That began my CT career. What I didn't tell them was I only stayed in college for two semesters and was on the verge of "flunking" out because radio engineering was not for me. I finished my 4 year CT stint as a CTR on Guam and later went to Arlington Hall and Fort Meade. After my discharge I went back to college and graduated with a business degree. I was smart enough by then,to know I could never make it in radio engineering.
