WSJT-X ver 1.8.0 to DXBase2007 ver 1.10
BRIDGE (Extra) program ver 1.02

Designed and made by Joe WA6AXE

CAUTION ** CAUTION ** CAUTION

DO NOT USE this program if:
(1) You want to use the WSJT-X program's built-in feature of "Worked Before"
(2) Or you want to use the "Worked Before" feature in the future.

Purpose of the Bridge program:

(1) The wsjtx.exe program allows DIRECT LOGGING of your
WSJT-X ver 1.8.0 program's QSO data into DXbase2007 ver 1.10

Requirements:

(1) You are running DXbase2007 version 1.10
And, you have downloaded the WSJT-X ver 1.8.0 program from the WSJT-X website at:

WSJT-X website

Scrolldown on the above LINK's webpage - you will be looking for:
Installation packages:
Windows:
Windows
Latest full release, Version 1.8: wsjtx-1.8.0-win32.exe. (runs on Win XP, Vista, Win 7, Win 8, Win10, both 32- and 64-bit). LINK at the above webpage.

What my BRIDGE program does:

(1) When you press the Log QSO button - followed by pressing OK in the next pop-up window
within the WSJT-X Ver 1.8.0 program, my BRIDGE
program sends the following info (if filled-in) to your DXBASE program:

  • DX station's CALL
  • DX station's NAME
  • RSTS
  • RSTR
  • MODE you are running with the WSJT-X Ver 1.8.0 program
  • FREQ - " If Selected " to be sent to DXbase.
  • GRID
  • IOTA
  • Remarks/Comments
  • QTH
  • STATE
  • TX POWER

** SPECIAL NOTE ** :   Some words about the FREQ --

When you have your RIG interfaced with DXBASE (Radio1 or Radio2) and, you have the
"Connect HF Radio# Serial Interface" CHECKMARKED -- and, you also have the
"Log Defaults" TAB item of: "Load Band ... from HF Transceiver" CHECKMARKED,
you will want to make sure that there is a CHECKMARK made on the
one OPTION on my program window - entitled: Do not send freq info

Conversely - when you have your RIG interfaced directly with WSJT-X ver 1.8.0, not with DXbase, so that
the operating FREQ is shown in the WSJT-X 1.8.0 program display - in this case be sure that
there IS NOT a CHECKMARK made on the BRIDGE programs display window.

** SPECIAL NOTE ** :    to be able to have your QSO (within DXBase)
to be AUTOMATICALLY SAVED -- be sure to go into your DXbase2007
    Main Menu -- Tools / Options ... / User Options ... /
Looking at the "General" TAB - in the area of the window entitled DXBPSK Interface,
make the CHECKMARK for the item entitled " Auto Save QSO " -- this will allow your
QSO's sent from WSJT-X ver 1.8.0 to be Automatically saved without you doing a thing to your logbook.

Getting the program files out of the ZIP file:

    (1) Open the ZIP file (LINK is at bottom of this webpage) and using your ZIP file
program, EXTRACT and SAVE the enclosed file to any directory of your choice on your computer.

    Enclosed in the ZIP is:

  • WSJT-X_V180-bridge.exe -- (which is the standalone exe program)

    Using the program:

SPECIAL NOTE FOR WINDOWS 7, WINDOWS 8/8.1, AND WINDOWS 10 machines:
BE SURE and change the PROPERTIES of the wsjtx.exe file to "Run As Administrator" - and -
change the PROPERTIES of the WSJT-X_V180-bridge.exe file to also "Run As Administator" - and - if
the file is BLOCKED (Properties) - UNBLOCK IT!!!

    (1) Once you have installed my exe program - literally anywhere you want to
place it on your computer - and, you have the WSJT-X ver 1.8.0 program installed: --

Execute my Bridge program, the WSJT-X ver 1.8.0 program, and the DXbase2007 ver 1.10 program ..

You will see the GRAY colored boxes on my program display - become GREEN colored.
This simply tells you that my Bridge has found both of the programs.

NOTE: There is absolutely no special sequence that you have to execute
the three programs -- as the Bridge program will find the other two all ok.

    (2) Installing the WSJT-X ver 1.8.0 program is very straight-forward and is like ALL of
the other digital mode programs out there.. During installation pse be sure to let the
install programs path be the DEFAULT one. The install default is C:\WSJT\wsjtx

    (3) Once you are in a QSO, and you have filled-in each of the data fields that
YOU WANT to fill-in .. PRESS the "Log QSO" button .. A new pop-up window will appear.
This window shows ALL of the fields that can be filled-in.. Once you have ALL of the fields
entered .. Press the OK button.. That's it!! Your QSO data
is sent directly to and saved as a new QSO in your DXbase logbook.
