Robert Sneed CTR3 1970-1973 In 1968 graduated from high school Sheffield Al , went to college next 2 years. Skipped one quarter and then joined Navy after hitting the lottery in the draft. Went to basic in Orlando and did ok in testing and was suggested to go for ctr. Had an interview with a warrant office that was very discreet and vague regarding what CTs actually did.. However, cleared the security investigations and was married 1 week after boot camp. After a 1 week honeymoon I went to Pensacola for CTR school. I did well in the schooling and was given my first choice of duty stations. I chose Sabana Seca Puerto Rico and flew out 2 weeks after graduating from A school. First order of business was to find a car and place to live in San Juan and send for my wife. Bought and old VW bug and rented a house in Levittown near the base. I was very fortunate to play on many of the base sport teams and travelled to nearby islands and the mainland representing our base.. However, what I enjoyed the most was the challenge of my job as a CTR. We felt that we were truly protecting out great county by the job we were doing . Great, great memories and experience that has benefited me and my family all these years. By the way, my wonderful wife and I will be celebrating our 50th year of marriage anniversary this August 2nd.
