Richard M. Sanborn, CTOC USN Retired, 1954-1973 Funny how things happen. I had just finished sending a letter to all my grandsons; I have 25 grandkids and forget how many are boys; a three page letter telling them about the Naval Security Group and all the benefits of a Navy career and the other branches. Gave them a brief history of what I went thru and how great it was. Especially in times like we are experiencing now. I cud have used all ur stories. I joined the Reserves when I was 17 (in 1952) and knew exactly what I wanted to be. A back seat radio operator/machine gunner in one of those old Navy dive bombers. I joined the regulars and was really disappointed when I found out they didn't have those planes anymore, (what did I know?) I did get to radio school at Imperial Beach and lucked out and became an "O" brancher. Those didty's wud have drove me nuts.
