William F. Richardson, CTO1 USN Retired, 1964-1987 Went to boot camp in early 1964, in boot I got selected for NAVCAD, went to Pensacola, the first day this old TD (Tradevman) chief pulls out this chair, I sit in it, he then pulls out this silouette which looks like and airplane cowling and says "son, there is a number on the other side of this, tell me what it is". I cant see it, so I stand up and tell him whatever the number was. He says, "no dumbass, I meant while you were sitting". I say "Chief I couldnt see it". He says, "son, you are now a Medical Drop" from this program .. I ask why and he says" this is the cowling outline of the coming combat aircraft in the US Navy (F-4 Phantom), you cant see over the cowling, what I am trying to tell ya son, YOUR asshole is just to close to your eyes". Do you have a car, yes, OK, he says, go to admin, tell them you are an Med Drop, get your stuff, go to the main gate, go 4 stoplights down Navy Blvd, turn left at Corry Station and show the marine your papers. Voila, I am a CT. Bill Richardson US Navy (retired) CTO1 1964-1987
