John W. Morrow, CTT2 USN, 1966-1974 When I enlisted, my goal was to become a Quartermaster on a sea-going tugboat. I liked math and navigation. Quartermaster is a clean job with fresh air. Sea-going tugboats are a small command that visit lots of ports that larger ships don’t get to see (so much for goals and ambition in the Navy). After we took the Basis Battery tests in boot camp, we were told to make a list of the six specialties. The first on my list was Quartermaster. The bottom of my list was Radioman. When I gave my list to the Personnelman, the first thing he said was, “Radioman, huh. How would you like to be a CT?” My fate was sealed. John W. Morrow, CTT2 USN 1966 - 1974
