Bernard “Joe” Oblinger Sr., age 75, South Bend, Indiana went to Heaven on Tuesday, January 8th, 2013 at 9:20 AM. He was born in Geneva, Indiana on March 21, 1936 by Mae and Elmer Oblinger who preceeded him in death. Joe married Phyllis Eileen Bolin on January 10, 1956. A loving husband, remarkable dad, awesome grandfather he left a legacy of love, patriotism, did not judge others and gave the shirt off his back to many. As a devout sailor, Joe served in the U.S. Navy for 26 years serving as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (cryptologist) in Japan, Germany, Turkey, Cuba, Pensacola, Hawaii and Washington D.C. He is a member of The American Legion Post 363 and an avid, professional geneologist. Joe was survived by his wife, Phyllis and their children; Joanna (Dan) Blacketor, Paula (Ray) Kruszweski, Ronald (Cindy) Oblinger Sr., Bernard Joe (Teresa) Oblinger Jr., and Teresa (Matthew) Seifers. He has thirteen grandchildren and eleveen great grand children. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 11, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM and again on Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 9 AM to 11 AM. Funeral arrangements will be held Bubb’s Funeral Home, 910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545 on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:30 AM.
