Theodore B. Rybak Jr, CTT2, 1962-1970 I graduated from highschool in 1958, and deceided to try collage. Well after 3 plus years the Univerity of Bufrfalo, told me to try something else and partying was not a couse they offered. So in 1962, when going past the US Post Office in my home town, told my friend to stop the car, I was gong in and enlist in the Navy. He gave me a real funny look but let me off. Told the Chief I wanted to enlist, and no he did not have to go into his usual speel, I just want to kow if I could get a school after boot camp. So in April of 1962 I raised by right hand and the next day I was at Great Lakes. When it came to the testing process that had us test for morse code using the letters I, N, T.... pretty easy stuff. After passing that they told me I was going to CT school in Pensacola. Asked them what a CTdid, and they told me they had no idea, but it was classified and I would need a Top Secret Clearence. Well told them as my father was born in Poland, getting that clearence was most likely not going to happen. Too late they said and it was off he Pensacola, Corry Field. Started basic school there in fall of 1962 and just managed to get by R school, then it was wait till I got and did not get my clearence. Much to my supprise in early 1963, here comes my clearence. Then to T branc school. Without needing to pass the code again I was safe. Graduated in fall of 1963 and then off ot Bremerhave, or as we called in B-haven, and Charlie section. Think my supervisor was a CTT1 Darryl Harris. In 1965 got ordered to Non Morse school at NSA, and in Sept 1965 off to Guam. Had a great time here, weather was nice, beaches great. Left Guam in Feb 1967, and then orders back to NSA Ft Meade Md. Finsihed up my service in June of 1970. I can truly say the 8 years in the Navy and Security Group, I consider one of the 5 best thing I ever did in my life. Wouldn't change it for anything. Ted Rybak ex CTT2
