Michael K. Moran, CTR3 USN, 1966-1970 All of us took countless test in boot camp. One was to test your ability to learn Morse code. They gave you 3 or 4 characters and then played these characters over the speakers. I couldn't understand a single one. It was all just gibberish to me. We were told before all the test started how important they were in deciding what you would do in the Navy. They said not to leave any question blank, to put something, anything down. Who knows, you might get it right. So I just started filling in blank boxes on the answer sheet. Making marks across the page and back again so that I would not leave any question unmarked. As I said, it was all gibberish. I didn't understand a single character. To this day I do not believe the results. I scored higher on this test than all the rest that I took in boot camp. UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE. THE HIGHEST SCORE. And that is how I became a CTR. Michael Moran CTR3
