Kathryn L. Hare, CTAC USN Retired, 1973-1993 I feel so blessed after reading all the stories about how you guys became CT's. I took the easy route. It was early 1973 and I was looking at high school graduation - didn't want to go to college; didn't want to get married; and didn't want to continue to work at Zayre's Dept. Store. Fortunately for me, I have a very wise older brother, Joe Merrill, then CTA2 and later on SecGru Physical Security Specialist. Joe had joined the Navy in 1969 and by 1973 he had completed a tour in Subic and was stationed at SecSta. He suggested I join the Navy; according to him I should be a CT - it wasn't like being in the regular Navy! My recruiter didn't believe me when I told him I wanted to/could be a CTA and had to call his boss to see if women were being accepted into SecGru. They were, he got his quota and I took off for 20 years of being a member of the Naval Security Group. Kathryn Hare
