I  Chuck Alexander was an SM2  aboard the USS  Galveston CLG3  in 1964.  We  pull into
Subic Bay,PI.  For a 3 day  R&R  and when we were getting ready to pull out a group of
Sailors along with a small metal shack came aboard.  We  were at sea for 30 days, pulled
Back into Subic Bay  and these folks got off and took their trailer with them and we got
Underway for another 60 days before pulling back into Subic Bay for 3 days.  I was very courious
About those sailors that only were at sea for 30 days. I started  asking around and was told
They were CT’s  but no one knew what they were doing with their little trailer.  I went to the
Personal office and was told CT’s did very little sea duty WOW  I was on my 6th year of sea duty.
I put in a request to change to CT , the next thing I knew I was on my way to Pensacola, Fl.
As  they say the rest is history and thank goodness I converted as  the rest of my 22 years
