My first duty station after FRA-54 C school. Loved it. Was going to 
bring my fiancée over, get married, and spend the rest of my 6 year 
enlistment there. Maybe for the best, the powers that be decided that 
there were too many CTMs, and not enough Electronic Warfare technicians, 
converted me out of the blue, and sent me to my second class A school 
on Treasure Island (EWA).. Only saw my fiancée once after that. She 
thought I skipped out on her, which wasn’t true. After EWA school I spent 
my last 3 years on the USS Hancock.

Buffered to a 256KB drum [?} in the center of the tunnel. Boy would that thing do the Cha-cha if the line frequency 
varied when switching over to diesels. - what was the NEC for CT intercept operator at the time? My memory fails 
me and my DD-214 just shows CT-0000. PM me if anyone has unclas photos of the "tunnel?" In 1971 - 1972 we 
had a section supervisor named "Lou." He was a first class when he took over our section, then became a chief in 
1972. Best supervisor I had during my tour. I also recall a CTT3 named Chaffee who was somehow related to 
SECNAV. Someone built a wall of empty coke bottles around him when he fell asleep on a mid watch. 
Wonder who that was?,I'll post the usual "I was there" photos in a day or two.,thanks,Carl.

9.Coments: Arrived Naha via ferry from Sasebo, Japan Aug 75 with family AND pet dog. 
Got assigned as watch supervisor working a 2-2-2-80 sked. Plenty of time to explore the 
island and underwater seas around it. Learned scuba diving and did a lot of it. Had the 
honor of having, I blv, the first female CT assigned to Hanza/Torri station, named 
Yolanda "Howie" Howard. Excellent duty. Got caught on 3 typhoon condition 1C watches 
and spent sometimes up to 30 plus hours on duty. Wanted to stay on Okinawa, but the 
Navy said I was out too long, Aug 72-Jan 79. So we had to pack up and go to FGGM, MD.
My bad luck!
